Openings in NEOHSTEM Alliance

The NEOHSTEM Alliance is a group of community leaders that seek to advance the opportunities for students to experience and excel in STEM skills and activities. Below are description of openings.

Sow STEM School Liaison

The Sow STEM Program is a program to build, support, and network parent STEM groups in the Norheast Ohio region. This collaboration among schools allows for sharing of ideas, content, and collateral to support school activite in STEM and eventually friendly competitions in these activites.

Liaison To A School or School District To interface with school to start and support the parent community, to work with the Sow STEM Committee to voice the interests, concerns, and requests of the parent group at your school/ district, and to share experiences ("what works/ what doesn't work"), and to the update NEOHSTEM Executive Board on activites. The scope of the committment is identify interested parents, to coordinate with NEOHSTEM Alliance for kickoff date. To attend committee meetings at an interval agreed upon by the committee. A STEM Liaison should have an interest in science, the ability to network, communicate (oral and written), and collaborate and have good organization skills.

NEOHSTEM Alliance Website Calendar Coordinator

We would like to have a website designed to be a go-to place for STEM student education. For this we need someone who will research area STEM groups, activites, educational events and competitions and keep the calendar up to date. Also find and upkeep a recommended online STEM sites.

NEOHSTEM Calendar Coordinator To research STEM groups, activites, events, and online educational sites, collate and disseminate information on website (working with digial and social media committee. To request website changes to support current available information. A calendar coordinator should have an interest and a working knowledge of STEM and student education (either as a parent or educator) to be able to review sites for recommendation.

Social and Digital Media Committee

This team will design and implement an engaging website to interest student and parents in STEM activites and education. The webiste should be attractive, apealing, and well organized with easliy acessed information.

Social Media and Website Committee Member To develop user friendly interface with lots of information. The scope of this position is to either help develop the website architecture and/ or content or to develop the interface/ user experience. The team can meet at an interval determined by the committee - and possibly online (lol). At some later point this team can branch into developing applications to support the goals of the NEOHSTEM Alliance mission. A committee member of this team will need either programming skills such as php, javascript, html, css for websites or application development.

Grant Writing and Sponsor Coordination

Work on a team to research available grants and work with committee to write grants to request funding for STEM projects. Also to work with local companies for sponsorships to activites and events.

Funding Coordinator To enlist and engage local business for sponsorship to events and activities, to coordinate with committee to seek, write, and apply for grants. The scope of the committment would be to meet with the funding committee at interval determined by the committee, and to have time to visit sponsor to pitch and recruit sponsors, and additional meetings when a grant is identified to develop the content. A funding coordinator should have good business and networking skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and passion to provide students with STEM extracurricular activities.
